HISTORY
Coached by DB Prinsloo nearly all his life Johan has been almost everywhere. He is the 7 time SA Champ. In 1999 he came 5th at the World Youth Champs in Poland with a 3:46.45 and the following year he won the 800m at the Youth Commonwealth games and came second in the 1500m. That same year he went to world Junior Champs where he once again took 5th place this time with a 3:42.52. In 2001 he competed at the Africa Junior Champs where he took 5th place in the 800 and 4th in the 1500m and he and his team won the 4x400m relay. He has competed at two Universiade meetings, China and Turkey and another 4 African champs where his best performance came in 2012 in Benin where he ran 3:38.27 for the 5th place. The World Champs in Moscow was his 3rd champs he went to and he walked away with the bronze medal with a time of 3:36.83. He also represented the country at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He has now run quite a hand full of sub 3:34 times and has also broken the SA 1500m record with a 3:31.93 and the SA mile record with a 3:50.70, both in the last 2 years, which means he is in the best form of his life now. It is also worth mentioning that Johan has ran a 1:45.64 on the 800m. We believe you can keep your feat firmly on that podium Johan!
