Conrad Burger1. Goals for 2015?

My goals for 2015 is to qualify to compete in the Varsity Cup Athletics. It is my first year that I am able to compete in the Varsity Cup, because it is also my first year with the heavier 2kg Discus. So I am really looking forward to see how well it goes!

 2. Long term goals?

I want to try and qualify to compete in the World Championships and Olympics but that is a very long term goal and there is still a lot of hard work that needs to be put in.

 3. What motivates me?

The fact that I want to be successful in what I do, that motivates me! Also the fact that I received my talents from our God that also gives me the motivation to work harder towards my goals!

 4. Why do I like athletics?

I don’t really know haha. It was something I was good at in Primary School and I just kept on doing it and eventually I started to love the sport.

 5. Where does my passion for athletics come from?

My father was a shot putter back in the day when he still did Athletics at school and he also was my coach when I started doing Athletics, so the  passion that I developed comes from my Father.

 6. PB’s in Discus and Shot put?

Discus is my main event so I do not really practice Shot put that often but the past year I shot a pb in Shot put with a distance of 14.5m. Discus I have a pb of 53.74m with the 1.75kg Discus. The coming year both the shot and discus have heavier weights so I am really looking forward to see what distances I can throw.

 7. Zone 5?

When we arrived in Bulawayo I was a bit skeptic because our track was not finished yet, but after the first practice session I was very positive. We as Team South Africa were treated as Professionals and we didn’t feel in danger at any moment. On the second day of the competition I participated in the shot put and got a distance of 13.9 m and came 3rd. Two days after that I participated in my main event the Discus, it wasn’t a good day for me and I came 2nd on the last throw with a Distance of 51.91 m. In both events the Gold, Silver and Bronze medal positions were athletes from Team South Africa.

 8. For a finish off?

I just want to thank my parents for all the troubles they go through in order to support me. And it doesn’t matter where I go they will always be next to the field supporting me. I appreciate it a lot and love them so much!
