Injury Tip – Jannie Briers-Louw

I tore my groin at African Juniors in Botswana a few years ago. I was out of athletics for seven months but to be active from a very young age I couldn’t sit still for seven months so I started Pilates as part of my rehab with physio twice a week.

After 4 months I could cycle for 5 to 10 minutes a day. After 6 months I was able to aqua jog quite intensely. With gym rehab and Pilates I didn’t start from scratch when I started running so my fitness picked up quite fast and I was able to run times I ran before the injury with a month and a half of track training.
