Justine Palframan - PC Trevlyn Palframan

With just 51 days until the start of the World Athletics Championships in Beijing, we take a look at South African 51sec 400m champion Justine Palframan.

She is known for her humbleness and friendliness off the track, but on the track she is known as the athlete who shows no mercy! Justine is with-a-doubt one of the future South African athletes that needs to be watched out for with a bird’s-eye; her personal best times of 51.78 sec (400m) and 22.96sec (200m) which she ran at this year’s USSA Championships, gives us a reason to pay close attention to the University of Stellenbosch star. Just last night Palframan won a 200m race in 23.36 after taking a dive to the track in the last 5m, a feet some of us can’t achieve without falling.

Running these quick times on South African soil showcases the depth of this Youth and Junior SA 400m record holder. She boasts with a youth record of 52.88sec and a junior record of 51.87sec in the 400m…jaw-dropping times indeed! She sets a great example by laying a good foundation and staying focused on her building her tower a few years from now.

Justine is sure to better her personal best time when she competes against the likes of Francena Mccorory, Sanya Richards-Ross and Christine Day who boasts with 50 second and faster 400m times! Competing against calibre athletes likes these will boost the confidence levels and oomph her to run even faster. And faster she will go, watch out Rio! However, we believe in our South African 400m champion. We believe she can take a shot at the SA record of Heide Seyerling 50.05 setback in 2000..see you in the final at this year’s World Championship champs!
