Henricho Bruintjies - PC Trevlyn Palframan

100m – 9.97 (+0.8) – 20th on World Rankings

At the World Champs Bruintjies will be lining up in the 100 meteres and possibly hte 4 x 100m. Bruintjies’s season has been a bit of a role-coaster  ride. He did not compete at the SA Senior champs and at one stage he wanted to terminate his season.

At the USSA Champs Bruintjies took a 3rd place in the final with a 10.38. Bruintjies then went abroad and that is where the game changed. On any given day no matter who you are, if Bruintjies decides today is his day then you are in trouble. On the 5th of July he broke the SA record of Simon Magakwe running 9.97.

Bruintjies then did not go to compete in the World Student games. So going into World Champs he will be a bit of a underdog, but a wild cart as well. If Bruintjies brings his A-game at the World Champs in Beijing we believe he can even better his joint SA record in the final.
