Climbing the Ladder to Athletic Success

Goitseone Makokoe is a 19 year old Mafikeng born youngster to watch out for in the near future. The sprinter, whose mother is also an athlete, boasts with personal best times of 10.50sec over 100m, 20.97sec over 200m and 46.67sec in the 400m event.

The Sol Plaatje Secondary School student comes from an athletics-crazy family as his mother and father met on the track! With all the encouragement he received from his family, Makokoe saw himself representing his province more than 6 times and clocking times he never thought he could.

The dream of every athlete is to make the Olympic squad and this star’s dreams also runs down the same lines. What makes his dream even more special, however, is the fact that he hails from the same village as Olympian Stephen Mokoka; he is the one who motivates and speaks life into Makokoe’s future! Big ups, Mr Mokoka!

A few years from now he will make the Olympic team and then only will people begin to realise that our champion has potential. No, that believe-system should start now. It’s time to start believing in our youngsters and we believe that with consistency, unending passion, support, drive, commitment, focus and determination, Goitseone Makokoe can achieve all his dreams.

Backtrack supports you all the way.
