Julia came 2nd at the African Champs this year and she also won not only the SA Senior champs but also the Varsity cup and USSA meetings in the high jump. She came 6th at a World Challenge in Dekar and took a gold and silver at two European meetings in Boissano and Lignano. At the all Africa games in Congo she took a Bronze medal. She is 2nd year Junior this year and boasts with a highest jump of 1.84m this season.


Tamzin Thomas as a junior athlete is the 2nd fastest lady over a 100m in South Africa behind Carina Horn in 2015. Thomas is the double SA Junior champion over 100 and 200m and she went on to the African Junior champs where she won gold in the 100m. She also won the SA open meeting and took a bronze medal at the Senior Champs in the 100m. Her best times for 2015 over these distances are 11.58 and 23.72. Tamzin also won the Southern Region Senior championships 100m.


Another young sprinting sensation that has emerged in the last 2 years is De Bruyn. This year she claimed the SA champs u/17 200m title and she came first at the African Youth games in a new championship record time of 11.61 and also 1st in the 200m with a record time of 23.63. She then went to World Youth Champs where she finished 3rd in the 200m with a new pb time of 23.38 which makes her the 2nd fastest over 200m in SA this year behind Justine Palframan. Nicola de Bruyn is only 16 years of age!! Her time of 23.38 places her 7th on the 2015 Youth 200m rankings. This time that was ran against a -0.7 headwind.


This year Weitsz won the SA Club champs 1500m with a time of 4:27, she then went on to claim a 4th place at the Senior SA 1500m final with a 4:25.58. And keeping in mind she is only 16 years old. Weitsz then represented SA at the African Youth Champs where she placed 4th with a pb time of 4:25.26. At the Naboomspruit top 10 she also broke a 1500m record that has stood for 28 years and at the Pukke Top 30 clocked a solo 800m run of 2:08. Not long after that she went on to beat Caster Semenya, Gena Lofstrand and Anuscha Nice in the Tembisa Streetmile. On the road she ran a blistering fast 34:41 on the 10km at the Sanlam Cape Town 10km.


Hurdler Bieldt has been having an amazing year. All together she won 8 medals at both the Senior and Youth SA champs which includes gold at the SA Youth Champs. At the African Youth champs she won both the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles in championship record times of 13.31 and 59.20. She was one of a hand full of athletes that competed at the Youth Commonwealth Games and there she broke a 33 year old SA Youth 100m hurdle record running a 13.18. This time is also an African record. Not to mention she also represented South Africa at the World Youth Champs. Her time of 13.18 is ranked 4th on the 2015 Youth 100m hurdles rankings.


In this year alone Zinzi Chabangu broke her own SA junior Triple Jump record an astonishing 5 times. Her final and furthest record jump was a 13.18m which as a junior places her 7th on the all time SA triple jump rankings. Her best leap in the long jump this year was 6.32m which also moves her into the top 30 SA all time rankings. She came 5th at the African Junior Champs in the Long Jump. At SA senior champs she came 2nd in the Triple jump as well as at the USSA meeting. Chabangu also represented South Africa at the Word Student games. And to crown it all off she was named the UJ Sportswoman of the year. Her 13.18m leap in the Triple jump places her 25th on the 2015 Junior Rankings.


This year was a great year for Geel. She won Gold in February at the African Junior champs for her Discus and also won the ASA Junior as well as Schools titles. At the SA senior champs she won a bronze medal. She threw record distances at the Randburg Prestige meet, Garsfontein Prestige meet as well as the Tuks Top 10 meet. She broke a total of 8 records in 2015 that tallies up a number of 95 records over the last 5 years. She has a best throw of 49.63m. She was also one of 3 nominees for Gauteng Sports awards most promising athlete over all sporting codes.
