Akani Simbine was the only athlete in the Day 2 morning session to qualify for the next round. Simbine lined up in heat 8 with no clear threat and comfortably ran a 10.14 to take an automatic qualifier. Now Simbine will line up in the toughest Semi final of all. 6 of the 9 men have gone sub 10sec this year with Simbine’s 9.89 being the fastest. Nickel Ashmead, Jimmy Vicaut, Ben Meite, Marvin Bracey and Jak Harvey are the men Simbine will face to make history and make an Olympic final for the 100m

The semi final takes place 2:00 on Monday morning
