Comrades Marathon organisers have made it a little easier for entrants to qualify for this year’s race.
With 150 days to race day, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) confirmed on Thursday that the standard marathon (42.2km) qualifying time had been adjusted from four hours, 50 minutes (4:50:00) to five hours (5:00:00).
“This change is aimed at making the Comrades Marathon more inclusive and accessible to a broader range of runners, encouraging more athletes to qualify for and participate in this iconic event,” the CMA said.
“The decision was made after careful consideration and consultation with various stakeholders, including athletes, coaches and running clubs.”
